To fix this problem, download and run the Norton Removal Tool. After the computer restarts, download and install Norton.
If you’re upgrading an existing Norton product to a later version, you don’t have to uninstall Norton before installing the new version. The installation process removes the existing version and install the new version in its place.
Step 1. Run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool
Step 2. If you have Norton Family installed, uninstall it before you run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
Step 3. Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
Step 4. Save the file to the Windows desktop. On some browsers, the file is automatically saved to its default location.
Step 5. To open the Downloads window in your browser, press the Ctrl + J key.
Step 6. Double-click the NRnR icon.
Step 7. Read the license agreement, and click Agree.
Step 8. Click Advanced Options.
Step 9. Click Remove Only.
Step 10. Click Remove.
Step 11. Click Restart Now.
Step 12. After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Norton.
To open the Downloads window in your browser, press the Ctrl + J key. You may see the Remove button if your Norton product is from your service provider. After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall your Norton product.
Uninstall Norton Product
The procedure to Uninstall Norton Product is as follows:
1. Uninstall your Norton product
2. Now press Windows + R, Run dialogue box will open on your screen
3. Type appwiz.cpl and click on enter
4. A list of recently installed programs will be visible on your screen, Select 5. Norton product and click on Uninstall or Remove.
6. Once the Uninstallation finishes, restart your system.
7. Reinstall the software.
If your computer is connected to a corporate or small-business network, and if you have installed Symantec Endpoint Protection, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition, or Symantec Client Security, contact your computer administrator before installing your Norton product. If your computer is not a part of any corporate or small-business network, you can uninstall the Norton product from your computer to install your Norton product.
“Another version of a Norton product has been detected on this computer…” occurs when there is already a Norton product installed on your system and you are trying to install one more Norton product on it. Suppose your computer is a part of a business network and your administrator has already installed Norton Endpoint Protection or Norton Client Security and now you are trying to install your own. You have to first seek permission of your Administrator to install the new Norton product on your computer. If a Norton product is installed on your personal computer, then you will have to uninstall current Norton product to install a new one on it.
